When you become a Chicago Committee member firm, you join an organization that is deeply rooted in the City’s history and its established legal networks. You gain access to a valuable resource for diversity and inclusion leadership, including national thought leaders; a compilation of best practices research, knowledge and tools; and a guided connection to the network of legal organizations, bar organizations and other diversity organizations that focus on diversity and inclusion in the profession. As part of your membership, your firms receives individualized advice and consultation regarding the design and implementation of your diversity and inclusion commitment plan.

WE KNOW CHICAGO, its largest law firms, and the business of large law firm practice. Since 1987 the Chicago Committee has worked with up to 50 of the largest law firms in Chicago to advance their diversity leadership. Our Board members are successful partners representing Chicago’s largest firms and they include practice leaders, diversity partners and firm management. Chicago’s most influential corporations have been represented on the Committee’s Board, have sponsored its programs and continue to inform our programs and initiatives through the Corporate Leadership Advisory Council.

HOW TO JOIN THE CHICAGO COMMITTEE:

Membership in the Chicago Committee is open to national firms with 250 or more lawyers and a Chicago-based office and to Chicago firms with 40 or more attorneys. Today we are proud to have 44 member firms that collectively have more than 700 attorneys of color.
The Chicago Committee grants membership to interested firms and corporations after successful completion of the steps described below. Just call or send an email to the Executive Director (link) and we will send you and information packet and schedule an introductory meeting

  • Initial contact with the Executive Director
  • Receipt of a Chicago Committee Information Packet
  • Receipt of the Chicago Committee Application Packet
  • Submission of the following:
    1. Letter of interest and commitment
    2. Membership application
    3. Firm demographic information
  • Discussion of materials
  • Approval from the Board of Directors
  • Dues payment

HOW TO JOIN THE ASSOCIATE BOARD:
